Bookish Baking: Hunger Games

Bookish Baking is a meme-type thing I created so I could share cakes that are inspired by books.  No set date for the posts, only when I have something I just can’t wait to share.   All my other posts were unfortunately lost in the great deleteathon of July 2011 (RIP) but I’m grabbing them from search engine’s caches and bringing them back here soon.

In the meantime, since everyone is in Hunger Games crazymode, I’ll share a HG-inspired cake.  The detail on this is amazing.  The ..bird.. (school me on what type of bird it is?)** is three-dimensional.  Almost too good to eat. Almost.

** No, I haven’t read the book yet…

very nice details. The bird looks like… it was made out of wood. Work of art!

Hehehe…you’re welcome – it’s my pleasure! You didn’t make an idiot of yourself though. Makes sense if you haven’t read the series yet.

The bird is called a mockingjay. Katniss is given a Mockingjay pin in the story, and it serves as a symbolism of rebellion in the series.
